Donald trump to Impose 100% Tariff on Foreign Produced Movies

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump declared that he had given the USTR and the Department of Commerce permission to start the process of levying a 100 percent duty on all foreign-made movies entering the country. Trump claimed on Truth Social that other countries were pulling American studios and filmmakers away from the US.

“The American film industry is dying a very quick death.” To entice our studios and filmmakers to leave the United States, other nations are providing a variety of incentives. Hollywood is in ruins, as are many other parts of the United States. This poses a threat to national security because it is the result of coordinated efforts by other nations. It is propaganda and messaging on top of everything else. The message was read.

Trump also declared his intention to “immediately begin the process of imposing a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are made in Foreign Lands” by directing the US trade representative and the commerce department. “WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!” he said in conclusion.

Trump’s Tariff Imposition on Movies

The process of enforcing such a tariff is completely unclear. Films constitute a type of service that is currently exempt from tariffs since they are intellectual property rather than products. The USTR does point out that certain non-tariff trade obstacles, such rules and tax breaks, may apply to specific services. Such things could hurt American cinema.

Large tax discounts have been provided by numerous foreign towns to television and film studios so they can produce shows and films outside of Hollywood. As a result, several productions have moved their operations to cities like Toronto and Dublin. Governor Gavin Newsom of California has responded by proposing a sizable tax credit to encourage Hollywood to resume production.

Alcatraz prison will reopen under Donald Trump’s authority

Additionally, on Sunday, Donald Trump declared that he was ordering the Bureau of Prisons to restore and reopen the notorious Alcatraz jail in San Francisco Bay in order to “house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders.”

He wrote, “REBUILD, AND OPEN ALCATRAZ!” on the Truth Social website. “When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm.” Before it closed in 1963, infamous US criminals including Al Capone were imprisoned at the federal penitentiary at Alcatraz. It is currently among the most visited tourist spots in San Francisco.

“Today, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ,” the president wrote.
