25 December Karnataka Bus-Truck Collision: A tragic accident occurred on National Highway 48 near Gorlathu village. It is in the Hiriyur taluk of Chitradurga district. A private bus and a truck collided while the bus was travelling from Bengaluru to Shivamogga. The bus, a sleeper coach, caught fire as a result of the impact.
More than 10 people are thought to have died in the fire, according to initial reports. Authorities are awaiting more information while rescue efforts continue. Information according to ANI. Numerous people have been hurt, while 9 others were able to flee unscathed. For treatment, they have been hurried to hospitals in Chitradurga and Hiriyur.
Dead bodies on the road
On Thursday morning, rescue personnel removed the dead victims from the twisted wreckage of the bus that collided with the truck and caught fire on National Highway 48. It left dead bodies in body bags scattered about the scene. The official number of casualties will be released following an audit, according to the police. A number of them who were able to flee were taken to a local hospital for treatment after suffering severe injuries.

On Thursday morning, the burned-out bus was being removed from the route while authorities and rescue personnel conducted recovery operations. Cranes were seen in the scene to remove the damaged cars.
Police set the impact of the crash and the ensuing fire left the bus entirely gutted, making rescue efforts at the scene more difficult, even if preliminary investigations indicate the truck driver’s irresponsibility.
The truck driver is one of those who died in the accident, while the bus driver and cleaner managed to escape.
Ranjith, the superintendent of police for Chitradurga, attended the scene and is incharge of the enquiry. The Hiriyur rural police station has opened a case, and additional investigations are being conducted to pinpoint the precise sequence of events that resulted in the disaster.
