At least 400 people were killed in an attack at a drug treatment facility in Kabul lare on Monday. Afghanistan made accusations against Pakistan regarding the attack. In a significant escalation of the weeks-long cross-border combat between the neighbours, Afghan officials said the strike struck the 2000-bed rehabilitation facility at around 9 p.m. local time (16:30 GMT), causing considerable damage and hundreds of injuries.
On X, Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban government’s deputy spokesperson, made a post. He wrote, “At least 400 people were killed, and hundreds more were injured in the airstrike on the hospital. Rescue crews are still on the scene attempting to put out the fire and retrieve the victim’s remaining bodies.”
What did Pakistan say about the attack?
According to Pakistan’s communications ministry, Pakistan denied Afghanistan’s assertion that its airstrike had struck a hospital in Kabul on Tuesday. They called it “false and misleading,” as reported by Reuters.
As the heaviest fighting between the neighbours in years entered its third week, the most recent attack occurred hours after the two sides engaged in gunfire along the Pakistan-Afghan border. That killed four people in Afghanistan.

Horror reported by witnesses
The witnesses claimed to have heard three explosions detonating during the hospital’s evening prayers. Two of the explosions struck patient quarters and rooms.
“Everything caught fire,” Ahmad, 50, said. He only provided his first name and stated he was receiving treatment at the hospital. He also said, “It was like doomsday.” “My friends were burning in the fire, and we couldn’t save them all.”
Afghanistan and Pakistan have been at odds for the past few weeks
The strike occurred within the last 3 weeks of escalating hostility between the two neighbours. Pakistan has referred to it as an “open war.” The Taliban government was indeed encouraged by the IN Security Council on Monday to intensify its counterterrorism measures.
On February 27, Pakistan declared open war on neighbouring Afghanistan. It followed months of growing tensions and fierce cross-border fighting. Pakistan accused the Taliban of providing sanctuary to extreme organisations that plot strikes within Pakistan, a charge Pakistan has refuted.
