Donald Trump Warns Cuba; Approves Marco Rubio

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump warned that Cuba would no longer receive funds or oil from Venezuela and proposed that the island nation reach an agreement with Washington.

Although Venezuela is Cuba’s largest oil supplier, Trump has been successful in pressuring interim President Delcy Rodríguez to ship Venezuelan oil to the US since US forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. There will be absolutely no more money or oil going to Cuba. Trump posted on his social media site Truth Social on Sunday, saying, “I strongly suggest they make a deal, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”

“For many years, Cuba relied heavily on money and oil from Venezuela,” he said.

Although US intelligence has presented a dire image of Cuba’s political and economic circumstances, its analyses do not conclusively validate Trump’s assessment that the island is “ready to fall.” Three people with knowledge of the private evaluation were cited in the Reuters story.
