Telangana Factory Blast: 12 Dead; PM declares Compensation

Telangana Factory Blast: An explosion and fire at a pharmaceutical business near the southern Indian city of Hyderabad on Monday resulted in at least 12 fatalities and numerous injuries. Local news channels aired footage of the Sigachi Industries factory in Telangana’s Sangareddy district in ruins, with black smoke plumes rising into the sky.

Ten workers’ burnt bodies were discovered by firefighters, while about thirty others were taken to the hospital, where two of them later died from burns. A fire department spokesperson stated, “It was an explosion in a spray dryer unit of the factory, which is used to process raw material into fine powder for making drugs,” without providing specifics about the source of the incident. “We are continuing to search the rubble for other bodies.”

Immediate efforts were made to remove the wreckage and search for the victims in the Telangana Factory Blast. Eleven fire engines fought the fire, and members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) joined the rescue effort. State Labour Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy and Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha hurried to supervise rescue efforts as the entire region stank with a strong stench. Mr. Venkatswamy told media persons that the plant had been functioning for four decades.

This was the third accident at the industrial park in the last year, according to T. Harish Rao, an MLA for the Bharat Rashtra Samiti who was also in attendance. He accused the government of sabotaging the best time to transport injured people to hospitals by postponing it.

According to the news, there were 65 employees in the factory when the explosion occurred. On social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the deaths. He pledged to provide each next of kin with 200,000 Indian rupees ($2,333) in financial support.

Some of the best pharmaceutical companies in the world are based in India. They contribute significantly to the global supply of vaccines and generic medications. However, industrial mishaps are frequent, especially when chemical reactors are involved.
