Uttarkashi Cloudburst Triggers Landslide: 4 Dead; Tourists Trapped

Updates for Uttarakhand Cloud Burst: District Magistrate Prashant Arya stated that a significant cloud burst that caused a flash flood happened in Dharal near Harsil in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday. According to Arya, the tragedy has affected the lives of at least four people and left dozens more missing. Local residents claim that many homes had been destroyed or washed away in the rushing waves as a result of flash floods brought on by the Uttarkashi cloudburst.

“A cloudburst incident in Dharali, Uttarkashi, has come to my attention… Our goal is to save the lives of the people. Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, stated that officials from the Indian Army, the District administration, the NDRF, and the SDRF are working to save and rescue people. Rajesh Panwar, a villager, told the media that 10 to 12 people may be buried beneath the wreckage. There may have been 20 to 25 hotels and homestays wiped away, he said.

In Uttarkashi, flash floods caused by the cloud burst have killed four people. DM Prashant Arya said, “We don’t yet have precise statistics, but a lot of water fills at Kheer Ganga at once”. He added, “Since there are hotels restaurants and guest houses there, we ask the army team to come. The network there isn’t very good and that some property had been damaged.” “Teams from Tehsil, PWD, SDRF, and NDRF have been dispatched.” He stated, “We are awaiting precise data.”
