Iran’s State media acknowledged the death of their supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. It was announced following the United States and Israel’s most extensive attack on Iranian sites in decades. On Sunday morning, Iran’s public broadcaster IRIB declared, “The Supreme Leader of Iran has reached Martyrdom.”
According to media accounts, the 86-year-old leader was assassinated early on Saturday morning in his office. According to state TV, his passing at work “showed that he consistently stood among the people and at the forefront of his responsibilities, confronting what officials call global arrogance.” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was shown a picture of his body after it was found in the Tehran facility.
