Ex-Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Arrested over Epstein Row

In the midst of the ongoing Epstein files controversy, the UK police have arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. He is a former British Prince and brother of King Charles, on charges of misconduct in public office. Mountbatten-Windsor is accused of giving the deceased, sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein, access to private Government information

The Daily Telegraph earlier said that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s home in Eastern England had been visited by British authorities. Earlier in the day, about 8 Cops in civvies and six unmarked police cars had arrived at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate in Eastern England.

The late Queen Elizabeth’s second son, Mountbatten Windsor, is a member of the British royal family. Despite his repeated denials of any misconduct, Mountbatten Windsor has expressed regret for his acquaintance with Epstein. Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, passed away in jail in 2019.

The Allegations

Andrew is under investigation for allegedly disclosing private information on official trade trips to Singapore, Vietnam, and Hong Kong in 2010. His previous relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is connected to the accusations.

Investigators are looking into whether Andrew’s time serving as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment resulted in the unlawful sharing of sensitive trade information. Andrew has not explicitly responded to the most recent accusations and has denied any misconduct related to Epstein.

Reaction of the royal family

When questioned about his brother’s imprisonment earlier in the day at an event in Central London, King Charles III remained silent. “The law must take its course,” a royal statement subsequently declared. The Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly agree with the King’s statements.

In April, the king is expected to travel to the US.

Facts about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

On 19th February 1960, Andrew Albert Christian Edward Mountbatten Windsor was born at Buckingham Palace.

He joined the Royal Navy in 1981 and became a helicopter pilot. He flew a Sea King helicopter on anti-submarine and transport missions during Britain’s 1982 battle with Argentina in the Falklands. Andrew received a campaign medal for that. He sailed with the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible.

Sarah Ferguson, popularly known as Fergie, was married to Windsor in 1986. They have two children, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
