A manhunt for a loan Sniper, whom the governor claims had committed a political assassination, began on Wednesday after Charlie Kirk, a prominent ally of President Donald Trump and a U.S. conservative activist, was shot dead while speaking at a Utah University.As of Wednesday evening, some 8 hours after the lunchtime shooting at the Utah Valley University campus in Orem, Utah, authorities said that they still did not have a suspect in custody. The event was attended by around 3000 people.
President Donald Trump confirmed the news, saying, “great and even legendary,” Kirk has passed away. Trump promised to take action against people who engage in political violence during his speech.
My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including the organisations that fund it and support it. As we as those who go after our judges, law enforcement officials, and everyone else who brings order to our country,” Trump stated.
What is Known Regarding the Charlie Kirk Assassination
One shot from a roof: According to authorities, the shooter fired from a roof while Charlie Kirk was speaking at a debate held at Utah Valley University by Turning Point USA.
Videos from the shoot went viral: They show Charlie sitting behind a white tent and talking into a handheld microphone.
Blood spurts from the left side of Kirk’s neck. He reaches up with his right hand after a single shot.
Gory videos from multiple views in slow motion and in real time were made available online almost immediately.
One video was a loop that paused before blood was visible to depict the impact of movement in slow motion.
Another recording from Kirk’s left contains audio that seems to indicate he was discussing gun violence at the time of his shooting.
Was the Gunman acting alone? According to the State Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason, the shooter only targeted one person. The murder was described as a political assassination” by Utah Governor Spencer Cox.
Detained and released: According to Cox, a “person of interest” was arrested on Wednesday night. But no charges were made public right away. The Governor stated that they did not have any information suggesting a second individual was involved.
Who was Charlie Kirk?
Charlie Kirk was a close ally of President Donald Trump and one of the most well-known conservative activists and media figures in the United States.
At the age of 18, he founded the non-profit conservative advocacy organisation Turning Point USA. He is frequently referred to as the spokesperson for the “Make America Great Again” campaign. During the 2024 presidential campaign, Charlie was frequently praised by Trump. Trump praised him for winning over a large number of young voters and voters of colour.
