No Kings Protests Across USA This Week is Anticipated to be the Largest in History

A large number of protestors participated in “No Kings” protests across the US and Europe this week to express disapproval of US President Donald Trump’s conduct and the war in Iran. With organisers expecting millions of people to participate, Minnesota became the movement’s focal point. Thousands of people crowded the Capitol lawn and surrounding streets in St. Paul. The protest saw people with some waving American flags upside down as a sign of distress.

Although their estimates in some places were higher than those of local public safety officials. “No Kings” organisers said that the war was a major motivator for the roughly eight million people who joined the Saturday protests. However, disgruntled Democrats were not solely focused on the conflict in the Middle East.

How many people attended the No Kings protests?

The “flagship” No Kings protest in Minnesota’s Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, drew a lot of attention. More than 100,000 demonstrators are anticipated in Minnesota alone.

Tens of thousands of people marched through Manhattan, New York City. One of the organizers, actor Robert De Niro, spoke to the assembled throng in Midtown Manhattan.

According to the Guardian, a protest group of about a dozen Palestinian mothers waves a ten-foot-tall Palestinian flag while standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. They also reported rallies at certain locales, such as the National Institutes of Health in Maryland, drew about 1000 people.

The largest crowds yet are anticipated

According to US organisers, approximately 5 million people attended the previous No Kings Protests in June and 7 million in October. They informed reporters this week that they anticipated about 9 million people to participate in the protests this week. However, it was still unclear if the figure was accurate. Additionally, they said that over 3100 events, roughly 500 more than in October, had been registered. The report in all 50 states.
