Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Funeral: On Thursday, Iran’s late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was laid to rest in his hometown of Mashhad. It took place after capping 6 days of funeral rights throughout Iran and Iraq.

The supreme leader’s website published footage showing at least one fighter jet escorting the plane carrying coffin as it arrived in the eastern Holy City.

The coffins of Khamenei’s relatives who perished in the US-Israel strikes on February 28, were placed next to him. This initially signaled the beginning of the larger Middle East conflict.

The aircraft carrying Khamenei’s coffin is escorted by Iranian military fighters. The late supreme leader is buried beside his daughter, son-in-law, infant granddaughter, and Mojtaba Khamenei’s wife, Zahra Haddad Adel. All these people were killed in the February 28 strikes.

Iranians are still unsure of the location of Mojtaba Khamenei. He was named the supreme leader by political assembly one week following the death of his father.

Till the strike that killed Ali Khamenei on February 28 marked the start of the conflict, he has not been seen in public. Although he has made written declarations, no pictures, videos, or audio recordings of him have been released.

The same blow left him with crippling injuries, including Chevrolet damaged limbs and scarred face. He is improving, according to senior Tehrani sources. But he is still not well enough to handle public appearances. State security services are also attempting to limit his exposure in case there are further attempt by the United States.
