Government Hold Talks Over Students protest in Jharkhand over alleged exam irregularities

In response to their request on alleged anomalies in the state recruitment tests, the students and JPSC-JSSC hopefuls protesting in Jharkhand announced the formation of an 11-person team to negotiate with the state government.

8 students, a lawyer and two technical specialists (journalists) make up this delegation. The sub-divisional officer (SDO) received the list.

An office bearer of the “JPSC-JSSC reforms Manch” stated, “In response to the government’s offer to hold talks in connection with the stir, we have formed and 11 member delegation comprising eight students, two experts and an advocate.”

6 protesters have been on a hunger strike for the last four days as the protest. It’s over the supported anomalies in Jharkhand’s recruitment tests and entered its 14th day on Friday.

What is the reason for the protest by students?

Students from Jharkhand gathered at the Jaipal Singh Munda stadium in Ranchi to demand that all JSSC CGL, JSSC JE, and PGT exams be cancelled after 2019. They want the CBI to look into the irregularities. They declared that the “Mafias and agencies involved” must be strictly punished. Their demand also includes that category-wise cut-offs (UR, EWS, BC-I, BC-II, SC, and ST) be disclosed. They demanded OMR copies and response sheets for process Transparency, and that the recruitment calendar be based on UPSC/SSC standards.

However in the midst of the deadlock with the state administration, students have now demanded that Chief Minister Hemant Soren step down, calling him unfit to hold the position.

The government extends an invitation to discuss

Earlier this week, the Jharkhand administration made an effort to communicate with the demonstrators. The students said they will discuss the delegation that will speak with the state administration, but they are still nervous.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, told the protesters on Thursday that the state government will consider their requests. The JMM-led coalition government in Jharkhand also includes the Congress.
