Weeks after the supreme court overturned his last order on the subject, US President Donald Trump signed two executive orders pertaining to birth right citizenship and birth tourism. In one order, those engaged in commercial “birth tourism” are prohibited from entering, while in other, the list of individuals deemed ineligible for birthright citizenship is expanded.
After signing the orders, Trump attacked the court’s June 30th decision. What was altered by Trump’s birthright citizenship order?
On August 6th Trump signed two different executive orders. The earliest attempts to restrict the group of Individuals whose offsprings are eligible for automatic US citizenship at birth.
The directive states that persons who have been recognised as foreign agents, members of foreign terrorist organisations, alien force, or those who have been accused of employing fraud to gain immigration status are the targets of the limitation.
The second order focuses on “birth tourism.” According to Trump, visitor visa regulations will be tightened. It will be done so that those who come to the United States just to give birth cannot utilise the birth of a child to get US citizenship.

The legal stance on birthright citizenship hasn’t altered, though. In June 2026, the US Supreme Court ruled down Trump’s prior executive order that aimed to remove birthright citizenship for infants born to numerous non citizens.
The court reiterated that the 14th Amendment preserves citizenship for anyone born in the United States. It only has extremely narrow exceptions.
