Jamui, Bihar Molestation Case: 7 Culprits Identified, 3 Arrested

A viral video purportedly shows the assault of two young people, including a girl, in Bihar’s Jamui district. In a steep region close to the Jamui-Lakhisarai border, the tragedy happened on September 19th. A gang of young people reportedly stopped the two Class 10 students while they were returning on a scooter after attending coaching classes. The information was reported by the police

The governing coalition is defending the administration’s response, while opposition leaders are criticizing the state’s law-and-order situation.

The two students were encircled and allegedly subjected to improper conduct in a video of the event. The event later appeared on social media. The boy was attacked, and the female was abused. Police action and intense political condemnation followed the video’s dissemination.

The police created a SIT

According to the SP, a SIT has been established to carry out searches and apprehend all of the offenders. The special investigative team (SIT) is led by sub-divisional police officer Deepti Monali.

In accordance with section 8 (sexual assault) and 12 (sexual harassment)of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as well as pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), an FIR has been filed. Dayal said action has been taken to “take down the video”.

“We have identified about seven culprits with the assistance of the video. However, the victims have not named the suspects in the FIR filed at the Jamui police station. Raids are being carried out to apprehend the other individuals. Three people have been taken into custody.

The victims informed the police that they were returning on their two-wheeler from an expedition when the group stopped them. They were students at a nearby coaching institution.

The majority of the offenders have been identified. According to Jamui district magistrate Naveen Kumar. He ordered police to take action in response to the widely shared video footage. He also said that two of the suspects in the case were juveniles.
