New Nissan Patrol

It’s now officially official: this is the all-new Patrol SUV from Nissan. Revealed: New Nissan heading elsewhere later this year, the new (Codename Y63) Nissan SUV is all-new with revised underpinnings and a fresh exterior/interior, including many techs. In North America, the Patrol will be sold as a Nissan Armada. The SUV will share much in common with the suave Infiniti QX80 for sale in select international markets.

The new Patrol is also a bit less rounded in its appearance compared with the previous generation. At the front, you find a large grille in a black piano with sleek vertical headlamps and an E-shaped LED DRL daytime running light pattern. Sitting right above the same is a thin chrome bar that connects both and subsequently moves back to join up with the fenders. The design of the front bumper becomes part of this inspiration, and we see what is essentially a wide air dam in landlock somewhere between horizontal mode. Turn indicators mount unto the base perimeter for lighting, most likely one arrow cue headlights like those for my favorite LR3.

In profile, the look is a cocktail of angular and curvy surfaces. Sturdy-tough sheet-metal work combined with elegant glasshouse that radiates full-size SUVs. The glass behind the rear door angles upwards to create a floating roof effect. Features like contrast roof shade will be exclusive to higher variants and electrically operated footsteps for front and rear passengers.

On the other hand, the rear end seems to depend on both hatchbacks and sedans, with an upright tailgate finished off by rounded edges at least where it meets the body and an angular bend that carries over from the main windows in a horizontal fashion. A high-mounted stop lamp rests in the integrated spoiler. The fresh Patrol lists have vertical tail-lamps combined using a perpendicular LED light strip. The black surround on the tail-lamp housings is completed with a connecting panel just beneath the centrally-mounted light. The rear bumper also boasts a tall look and gets faux aluminum strips extending towards this unit’s ends in plastic.

The new Patrol uses soft-touch materials and faux-brushed aluminum trim options on various levels. Those displays will be paired with 14.3-inch touchscreens located side-by-side in the wide three-row cabin—one for instrumentation and one for infotainment with eight different user profiles meant to help reduce family squabbling juice consumption by allowing customizable access to vehicle settings, content preferences (0nly approved programming allowed while driving), gaming purchasesprivacy modesmediationtween grossness mature themes time management, etc. The standard lever-style gear selector has been replaced with specific buttons that sit beneath the HVAC panel on the center console. The new Patrol features a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine. The full-time four-wheel drive connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission system. That engine produces a heady 425hp, which represents an increase of around 25hp. The outgoing Pathfinder SUV’s old wheezy-grumbly slingshot-5.6-litre V8 alternative and, in fact, over two-thirds more power than the LC300 diesel. Both have 700Nm of torque. However, the Toyota and Nissan engines agree on one thing.

At the same time, the rear electronic-locking differential is an optional extra that was available on prior-gen Patrol in the Middle East. Further, engaging the highest suspension setting provides Pro-4X with additional ground clearance. On top of that, the Patrol’s more challenging version features a unique.
