Thanks to his outstanding performance in the newly released film 12th Fail, which has received great reviews, Vikrant Massey is presently enjoying the success of his project. The actor plays Manoj Kumar Sharma, IPS, a real-life police officer, in the Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed film. Vikrant discussed his impression on nepotism in the industry based on his personal experience in a recent interview.
Vikrant Massey responds to Industry nepotism
According to Vikrant Massey, the industry is a merit-based organisation in an interview with ANI. The actor went on to highlight the pervasiveness of nepotism in all walks of life, saying, “Even a shopkeeper in Chandni Chowk would not go out and look for someone to sit in the shop; he would ask his son only.” Thus, it exists in all fields. I have no acting experience. If you are a son or daughter of someone and you have plenty of chances, but you are not a competent worker, you will be quickly kicked out of this sector.
Vikrat described the sector as difficult and mentioned that people get the false impression that this is a democratic community where everything is simple. He went on to say that although the business is a thriving and forward-thinking group, it is not a family.
“The industry is extremely competitive. Thousands of actors are vying for my position. Do they think the best of me? Or do I have no substitute? No. The competition is fierce; even if I break my leg, someone else will step in and begin filming within four days,” the 12th Fail actor continued.
Vikrant Massey stated in the same interview that labour, not caste, is what counts. The actor continued, citing instances of technicians from Chhattisgarh who started out as light guys before becoming well-known technicians: “They got this based on their work and creativity.” It is a lovely industry where religion and caste are irrelevant.
