Delhi Bomb Blast: According to police, a car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station on Monday night resulted in at least 13 deaths and 21 injuries. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been tasked by the government with looking into the explosion. Authorities have banned visits from the famous Red Fort for the next 3 days while the inquiry is ongoing. For security reasons, DMRC has also shut down the Lal Qila Metro Station on the violet line.
During his visit to Bhutan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that those responsible for the explosion would face consequences. PM Modi’s comments are consistent with what Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday.

Shopkeepers, eyewitnesses, and people close to the explosion site reported that it was a high-intensity explosion that caused buildings to vibrate and windows to break.

Minutes before the explosion, a slow-moving car stopped at the red signal close to the Red Fort, according to Delhi Police. “A slow-moving car came to a stop at the red light at approximately 6:52 p.m.” According to Delhi police commissioner Satish Golcha, “there was an explosion in the car. It also caused damage to other surrounding automobiles.”
