Kerala Flood Updates: In a statement published by the chief minister office, Mr Satheeesan claimed that 27 houses were entirely demolished, 196 residences where partially damage, and 5792 people have been transferred to the 209 relief camps established up around the state.
Meanwhile Kerala braced for the probability of severe rains and flooding on Sunday (2nd August 2026). It is the latest in a succession of rainy days that have wrecked havoc over the state.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued in orange alert for 12 districts. It has warned of heavy rains and the lightly hood of flash floods, mud slide and road and neighbourhood inundation. The warning is raised in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasargod districts.

The Meteorological service issued a warning about 2 days of intense rain till August 2nd. Intense rain along with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusts up to 60 km per hour in a number of areas. Wet periods are expected to persist in the state until August 6th.

Additionally, the Chief Minister promised support to those that lost homes, livelihoods or family members. The CM advised people to exercise caution, particularly in the steep, places. The warning should be followed even if there hasn’t been as much rain since the day before.
Regarding the state’s rain catastrophe, “communications indeed continue with the revenue minister, ministers in charge of the districts, and district administrations,” he stated.
Chief Minister order responsible ministers to set up camp in the respective areas
Satheeesan instructed the ministers in charge of the areas affected by the flooding and landslides to set up an overseas and relief efforts. He discussed the matter with district collectors and ministries.
In the meantime, Separate events in Malappuram and Kottayam resulted in the drowning of 3 youngsters. 3 year old Abdul Muhain perished in Malappuram after slipping into the Kandamangalam river close to Thiruvali. In a different instance, torrent of Neerad carried 4 year old Adam Aiman away. He was declared dead. 11-year-old Milan K. Shiju perished in Kottayam after slipping into a hole filled with rainwater at his Pariyaram home.
