Goa Nightclub Fire: 25 Dead; CM Promised Strict Punishment

Goa Nightclub Fire Update: At least 25 people lost their lives, and numerous others were injured in the “Birch by Romeo Lane” nightclub. The incident happened after a destructive fire tore through the well-known nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, late on Saturday night. Due to serious suspected fire safety and building code violations, the number of victims, including four tourists died from suffocation after being trapped in the basement.

Serious concerns regarding the implementation of safety standards in the state’s thriving nightlife sector have been raised by the incident. It prompted a huge police investigation and resulted in the suspension of government officials. A magistrate’s investigation into the incident has been ordered by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. He has promised strict punishment.

  • Chief Minister Pramod Sawant provided an update on the nightclub incident. He stated that the investigation indicates some electrical fireworks within the club may have ignited the fire.
  • The government has declared that the relatives of the deceased will receive ₹5 lakh in ex gratia assistance. Those injured in the fire will each receive ₹50,000.
  • According to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the fire department discovered 23 dead bodies in the basement. The majority of the deaths were caused by asphyxia.
  • In the midst of the ongoing investigation into the fatal fire, the club’s manager and three other employees have indeed been taken into custody. The owners, Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, have been charged.
  • Roshan Redkar, the Panchayat sarpanch of Arpora-Nagoa, was taken into custody. He has been arrested for granting a trade license for the property in 2023.
  • The Goa police chief informed reporters, the event happened at approximately 12:04 am. The fire has claimed the lives of at least 25 people.
  • The authorities worked through the night to put the situation under control. The injured were sent to local hospitals for treatment.

Reason for the Goa Nightclub Fire

According to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, preliminary results indicate that electric firecrackers are being used on the property. After becoming stuck in the kitchen and on the ground floor, the Majority of victims, however, perished from suffocation. Water tankers were forced to stop about 400 meters away, since the vehicles were hampered by narrow highways. The narrow bridge and small exits made escape even more difficult.
