With his name appearing in that ‘Epstein files’ made public in the United States, Congress MPs staged a demonstration in the Parliament House complex on Friday. They called for the resignation of union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
As they demanded answers from Puri, a number of Congress MPs gathered outside the Parliament building and chanted anti&Puri chants. A large poster with images of Puri and Jeffrey Epstein was also held by them.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was criticized by Puri on Wednesday for “passing innuendo”. He talked about Epstein claiming that although he had met the convicted American sex offender “few occasions,” their interactions had nothing to do with the activities the convicted criminal was involved in.
Hardeep Singh Puri justification
During a Press conference, Puri claimed that the accusations against the late American billionaire had nothing to do with his contacts with Epstein. He claimed to have met Jeffrey while serving on an IPI panel.

Speaking to reporters at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters, the Minister said that during his time working with the IPI in New York, he only had three or four meetings with Epstein as part of an official delegation. He clarified that these encounters, which took place between 2014 and 2017 were a part of his net working with people in silicon valley. They also include Reid Hoffman, a co-founder of LinkedIn.
The Minister went on to say that since the US Department of justice has already made more than 3 million papers related to the case publicly available, all information is in the public Domain.
The Epstein Files
Following last month’s released by the US justice Department of a new cache of roughly 3 million papers pertaining to the investigation of Epstein, politicians, celebrities and royals around the world have been embroiled in the chaos. Epstein passed away in 2019 while waiting trial for sex trafficking.
The Press conference took place just after Rahul Gandhi, tje leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha revealed that Hardeep Singh Puri and Anil Ambani were exchanged emails with the businessman who first connected him to Epstein.
