A BMW went off the Coastal Road bridge in Mumbai and landed below. It killed three of its occupants and critically injuring one. Around 5 in the morning on Sunday the accident was reported. The Coastal Road Control Room reports that a black BMW was heading from Marine drive to Haji Ali when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed off the bridge. The accident allegedly occured as a result of speeding.
The automobile flew off the high Coastal Road bridge at 5:03 a.m. and crashed forcefully into the ground level work site below. Reports according to the CCTV footage of the collision.
Three of the four people inside the automobile were pronounced dead at the adjacent Nair Hospital. It is operated by the local government. Shanay Gajjal, 21 and a teenager, 17 have been named as two of the deceased. An official stated that the identity of another male victim, who was thought to be approximately 25 years old, was still unknown.
According to the official, the fourth occupant was taken to the hospital unit in critical condition after suffering serious injuries. The unnamed guy is about 20 years old.
The BMW was speeding at 120 kmph
According to Tardeo police, the car’s trajectory after colliding with the barrier on the coastal route and the force with which it was flung over the raised area suggested that it was driving at about 120 kmph. However, the enquiry will determine the precise speed.
The investigators further mentioned that the major carriageway of the Mumbai shoreline route has a speed restriction of 80 kmph. The speed restriction decreases to 40 kmph on ramps and bends. The speed stage limited to 60 kmph inside the underwater twin tunnels.
The four passengers were returning from Marine drive in South Mumbai when the accident happened. The police reported. The police control Centre was notified by a driver who saw the collision.
Additionally the event has brought speeding along the seaside road back into the spotlight. According to police, automobiles and SUVs, often go faster than the posted speed limit on the roadway. Some privacy sports cars also treats the road like a racecourse.
