Hours after exchanging gunfire for the first time since the United States and Tehran agreed to a ceasefire two months ago, Israel and Iran seemed to retreat from additional strikes on Monday. Both nations issued a warning, stating that if provoked, they were prepared to unleash counterattacks. There were worries that a full-scale conflict could break out in West Asia as a result of the renewed hostilities.
Since the US and Israel started attacking Iran on February 28, the conflict has affected the international economy. It resulted in increased energy costs globally and increased the cost of several necessities, including food. The April truce has not resulted in a pact to stop the fighting permanently.
President Trump demanded an immediate end to hostilities between Iran and Israel in response to the new attacks. The joint command of the Iranian military soon said in a statement that it was stopping aggressive strikes. Further “aggression and hostile acts” by Israel and its allies, notably in southern Lebanon, would be faced with “much more severe and crushing measures than before,” according to the statement.
What caused the new tensions?
Iran attacked Israel on Sunday after Tehran threatened to take action in response to Netanyahu’s persistent strikes on Lebanon. Israel’s persistent strikes on Lebanon have been a major front in the conflict. Tehran has insisted that a ceasefire there is essential to a peace agreement with the United States.

Earlier in the day, Israel Violated the request if its ally, US, to postpone conflict by unexpectedly attacking the southern suburbs of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. Israel claims that Iran-backed Hezbollah members opened fire on Israel on Sunday before it hit Lebanon.
