Audi India introduced the Q8 facelift, priced from Rs 1.17 crore (ex-showroom). The facelifted SUV continues mechanically but receives minor cosmetic tweaks and additional features.
Design: Exterior and Interior
The most significant change to the facelifted Q8 will undoubtedly be its new HD Matrix LED headlights with laser high beam and configurable light signature. Subtle updates to the bumper air intakes, new octagonal apertures, and ‘L’-shaped inserts on the grille. While the rear end of this second edition is mainly similar to its predecessor’s, it gains cutting-edge digital OLED (organic light emitting diode) tail lights with four individually switchable lighting animations that can be combined with the headlights.
The interiors remain more or less similar to the outgoing model, with no significant differences apart from slightly different stitching on the upholstery and newer color schemes. Audi will continue offering the twin MMI touchscreens, four-zone climate control, a head-up display, and heated/ventilated/massaging seats on the Q8. It also keeps the Bang & Olufsen hi-fi system. Also new is a larger app store, while third-party music apps like Spotify and Amazon Music are now integrated within the vehicle. Driver assistance systems have also received a boost.
Facelift 2023, gearbox
For the India market, the Q8 facelift carries over its 3.0-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, which develops more power and torque than previously — up to current outputs of 340hp and maximum torque of 500Nm(output figure) The engine is teamed with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, as are virtually all variants.
The Q8 facelift is for the higher tech with a considerable price rise. It now commands an asking price of Rs 1.17 crore against the outbound version priced at around 10 lakh less. It’s undoubtedly without direct rivals, although the coupe-SUV will offer some competition to more regular fares such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5.
