Next-generation seven-seater Dacia Bigster all but locked in for Australia as production model due soon: report, new images 6 This is tipped to come through, albeit rebranded as a new Renault for the Indian market.
Bigster is a three-row Duster with a few premium touches
As seen in earlier spy shots, the Bigster SUV borrows heavily from Duster and will share its underpinnings as well -the CMF-B platform-, a few body panels, seats dashboard, steering wheel & mechanical bits. The Bigster will be a three-row model that stretches almost 4.6 meters long, or about 300mm longer than the two-row Duster.
As was the case with Alcazar, it will have a longer wheelbase and bigger rear doors than Duster. Expect the SUV to feature more premium materials, as well as creature comforts aimed at justifying a higher price tag.
The engines on the Bigster are expected to be shared with those found in the Duster, which includes a 1.2 turbo petrol and larger than Stellio,, followed by a top-of-the-line TS variant of Stylusurent. It will be offered as a 4×2 and 4X4, but that may vary by market. Like the new Duster, it will be four-wheel drive in name only compared to something like a ladder-frame-based Jimny but will have terrain modes including Auto, Snow Mud/Sand, and off-road as well as Eco for efficient road driving.
Renault Bigster: When is it coming to India?
As far as India is concerned, we can expect the new Duster to come in late 2025 and Bigster will follow only after that. The two SUVs will also spawn Nissan derivatives and should go on sale in India following the launch of the new Duster.
The Bigster would go on to lock horns with the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV700 in India while the Duster is set to take on players like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos as also Maruti Grand Vitara Honda Elevate and Toyota Hyryder against more_cornering conditions.
