RBI and Two Banks Receive Threat Mail for India’s Biggest Scam

The RBI, which has its headquarters in Mumbai, and two private sector banks located in the city—HDFC and ICICI—received threat emails on Tuesday. The sender claimed to have planted bombs at eleven different locations throughout the financial capital and accused the RBI and private sector banks of being involved in the “biggest scam in the history of India.” Mint reported on this development, citing Mumbai Police.

The sender mentioned three areas where they thought explosives were planted: ICICI Bank Towers. BKC (Bandra-Kurla Complex); HDFC House-Churchgate; and RBI-New Central Building, Fort. Furthermore, the letters said that the explosives would go off around 1:30 pm.

“A total of 11 bomb threats were made at 11 places in Mumbai,” the Mumbai Police stated. Additionally, the email included the coordinates of the three bombing sites.1. After learning about the letters, the Mumbai Police stated they dispatched officers to each of the 11 sites. But nothing was discovered. According to a police officer, “a case has been registered and the probe is underway,” ANI news agency said.
