Chandigarh: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will campaign in Haryana over the next few days, covering several districts, in what is likely to take the shape of a “yatra,” as the party looks to go all out to wrest power from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state. This will be the second leg of his campaigning in Haryana for the October 5 Assembly polls.
Gandhi addressed poll rallies at Assandh in Karnal and Barwala in Hisar on Thursday.
Sources in the Congress shared a tentative schedule of his campaign program. According to this, Gandhi, who is likely to be joined by party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, will launch the second leg of his poll campaign from Naraingarh in Ambala district by addressing a public meeting on Monday.
Gandhi will cover Yamunanagar district on Monday and a few more places in Ambala, from where party workers will welcome him at several points, before he moves to Saha and then to Kurukshetra district, including Ladwa from where Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is contesting the election.
A public meeting will also take place at Thanesar in Kurukshetra according to the tentative programme schedule of the former Congress chief.
The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha will campaign in the state till canvassing closes on the evening of October 3. He would be accompanied by key Congress leaders from the state, including Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja.
The Congress is looking to regain power in Haryana after a decade-long gap.
Making a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Assandh rally on Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused him of “systematically” destroying the employment system of the country.
