On Thursday, auto parts maker Uno Minda Ltd announced an investment of over Rs 610 crore in a new plant in Indonesia and capacity expansion within India. The company officials said this would increase production lines at the PT Minda Asean Automotive (PTMA) facility.
Uno Minda New Plant in Indonesia: Meeting Rising Demand
Uno Minda added in a regulatory filing that its wholly-owned subsidiary had already gained extra orders. long tail lamps for passenger cars from Indonesian OEMs or original equipment manufacturers. A new manufacturing facility in Indonesia will be establishing to cater to the increasing demand. The facility is expected to go on stream by Q4 FY26. The company said this will help it increase its variety of products and address the increasing demand for passenger car components.
“Once the new plant is commissioned, the existing one will also be shifted to the new site. In an attempt to centralize operations and reap the economic benefits of scale. The total capital expenditure at the new plant is estimated at Rs 210 crore,” the company said.
The company has been a significant player in the Indonesian market since 2005. When it set up its first manufacturing facility. PTMA currently supplies components and systems to major two-wheeler OEMs in the country.
Expansion in India: Boosting Domestic Capacity
Besides the Indonesian expansion, the company said it is expanding domestic capacities with one of the key subsidiaries. Uno Mindarika Pvt Ltd (UMRPL) recently opened a new plant in Farrukhnagar, Gurugram, Haryana.
In phase 1 of this new plant, manufacturing facilities for part products were establishing. That would be use to manufacture automotive switches.
The company is investing Rs 120 crore in a new plant in Phase II in Haryana Farrukhnagar, Haryana. The relocation will be complete in Q3 FY27, ensuring a seamless supply to customers with flexibility for future growth. The company said. The company’s joint venture firm, Toyoda Gosei Minda India Pvt Ltd., Through this subsidiary, Toyoda Gosei South India Pvt Ltd also set up a new plant at Harohalli in Karnataka.
