US-Iran Deal: President Trump & President Masoud Singed

US-Iran Deal: On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the president of Iran and the President of the US reached an agreement aimed at ending the conflicts in West Asia. Tehran agreed to dilute its enriched uranium in exchange for significant economic assistance. After the G7 summit, Trump signed the memorandum of understanding over dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron. It took place at the Palace of Versailles, a US official told AFP

Following the signing of an interim deal by the US and Iran to halt the Iran War, oil prices dropped in early trading on Thursday, June 18. As of 0005 GMT, US West Texas Intermediate dropped 98 cents, or 1.28%, to $75.81 a barrel. Brent oil futures were down 89 cents, or 1.12%, at $78.66 per barrel. Following US President Donald Trump’s statement on Wednesday that he could resume his bombing campaign if Iran’s officials “don’t behave,” the benchmarks started to decrease again.

Washington confused by Trump’s offer

People were unhappy when parts of the memorandum of understanding started to surface in the media prior to the text’s public release. After seeing the draft texts, Trump’s own Republicans were shocked. The US President was singled out by the Democrats for criticising the 2015 agreement with Obama.

The final wording of the agreement is very similar, if not identical, to what we saw earlier this week. However, Trump and Vance rejected the veracity of the texts that were leaked to the media.

Important advancements in the US-Iran Deal breakthrough

Deal Singed: A copy of the US-Iran agreement was signed by President Trump. It took place at the Palace of Versailles in France. Following President Emmanuel Macron’s dinner, Trump told reporters, “It’s signed”. Iranian official media released pictures that showed President Masoud Pezeshkian also signed the agreement.

Next Steps: The agreement outlines conditions for reopening the crucial Strait of Hormuz and states that the US will grant waivers so Iran can export oil. Additionally, it declares that Tehran would “not procure or develop nuclear weapons”. It pledges the United States and its regional allies to create a $300 billion rehabilitation fund for Iran. It will be put into action during the next stage of talks.

In Lebanon, the agreement’s wording puts a stop to the conflict on all fronts. It included Lebanon, where Israel had persisted in its strikes.
