India started the first innings poorly, losing openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (5) and Rohit Sharma (0) early on in response to South Africa’s first innings total of 408. Shubman Gill, meanwhile, fell for 26 off 37 balls, failing to capitalize on a strong start.

SA had earlier on Day 3 scored 408 and had gained a 163-run advantage. On Day 3, Dean Elgar and Marco Jansen gave the Proteas a great start and established a partnership of 100 runs. But Elgar lost to Shardul Thakur for 185 off 287 balls, almost missing out on a double century.

In the post-lunch session, Jansen (72*), who is undefeated as of right now, will try to team up with Kagiso Rabada (1*). After being dismissed by R Ashwin for 19 runs off of 18 balls in the opening session. Gerald Coetzee was the other South African wicket. Jansen extended his fifty-year career in the post-lunch session, but the tailenders did not back him. Bumrah dismissed Kagiso Rabada (1) and Burger (0), giving SA a commanding advantage as they concluded their innings. India was bowled out on Day 2 after scoring 245 in the first innings. For the visitors, KL Rahul (101) led the way with a massive score. Kagiso Rabada, representing South Africa, took five wickets in the interim.
