US-China Trade Deal Overview; Talks on Iran War

US-China Trade Deal: After a two-day meeting with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, US President Donald Trump departed China on Friday. Beijing has cautioned the US against going too far on the Taiwan problem and said that the US-Israel war on Iran should never have begun. However, Washington boasts victories in bilateral economic accords.

Following high-level discussions between the Chinese and US Presidents, the White House stated on Sunday they china has reportedly committed to buy at least $17 billion worth of US agricultural products through 2028. If the commitment is kept, it would be a significant change from 2025. Last year, US farm exports to China increased by 65.7% year over year to barely $8.4 billion due to a growing cycle of retaliatory tariffs.

Trump informed reporters that the important conference resulted in a number of commercial agreements between the US and China. During his two-day tour, Donald Trump was accompanied by a number of prominent CEOs, including Tim Cook, Jensen Huang, and Elon Musk. China has committed to purchase 200 Boeing aircraft, Trump informed Fox News. Aerospace giant Boeing confirmed the transaction, although the Chinese side did not immediately release a comment.

Taiwan

China took exception at the US’s support for Taiwan and the recent $11 billion arms shipment to the nation. Beijing has referred to the island nation and its independence as a “red line.” They said if the issue is “handled properly,” it will improve relations between the US and China. The statement is according to a Chinese Foreign Minister.

Tehran

Trump downplayed the importance of the current battle in US-China negotiations. Even still, Iran war still received special attention. Following the two-day meeting, Trump says that Xi concurs that Iran shouldn’t have a nuclear program and that the Strait of Hormuz should be reopened.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated after the discussion that Beijing thinks a “permanent and comprehensive ceasefire” is the key to resolving the Strait of Hormuz. The ceasefire is the only solution between the US, Israel, and Iran.
