Three Newborns Killed in a Amravati Government hospital Fire

A large fire at a district hospital in Amravati, Maharashtra, claimed the lives of three babies. According to ANI, an explosion in a ventilator caused the fire to start in the newborn section. The accident happened at the hospital’s third floor Neonatal intensive Care Unit (NICU) at around 3:30 in the morning.

Soon after the fire started, doctors, nurses, and othe staff members on duty allegedly started an evacuation Operation. A number of newborns were saved from the ward ny the hospital staff. The unit received up to 39 neonatal admission. For further care, six newborns were sent to the Divisional Referral Services Hospital.

When the fire started, doctors, nurses, and othe hospital employees raced to the ward and started removing the infants. As the rescue effort began, medical equipment was unplugged and the infants were removed from the impacted area.

For treatments, six dangerously ill babies were sent to a neighbouring Super Speciality Hospital.

Soon after the event senior police officers, including the deputy commissioner of Police (DCP), arrived at the scene to evacuate the situation and start an investigation. According to news outlet IANS, local authorities have declared a formal high level investigation to address culpability for the administrative errors that caused this catastrophe.

“I am deeply saddened by today’s tragic incident in Amravati,” said Amravati District Guardian Minister and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. He also assured full government help throughout this crisis. “My sympathies are with the impacted families,” Bawankule remarked. “I pay my solemn tributes to the departed newborns and pray that God gives their parents the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”

Supriya Sule, an MP for the NCP, commented the fire at the Maharashtra hospital that claimed the lives of three babies “extremely heartbreaking ” and called for a comprehensive investigation. She claimed that it revealed grave flaws in the system..
