A stampede at the Chorebagan Durga Puja Pandal in North Kolkata resulted in atleast 19 fatalities and 25 injuries. For medical care, the injured were admitted to Medical College and Hospital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were among the politician who sent there condolences for the loss.
The West Bengal government declared that each deceased person’s family would receive ₹25 lakh in compensation and a government job.
What led to the stampede?
Authorities have pledge an Investigation, but the precise reason is yet unknown. Heavy rain began that evening in north and Central Kolkata. Statements according to the witnesses.
Before long, roads were severely congested. According to report, a large number of guest who were waiting outside hurried inside the pandal for cover. A number of people tumbled inside after pushing one another.

The sources were informed by hospital that injured patients were being treated in the emergency observation ward. Eleven individuals reportedly sent to SSKM hospital. Ajay Nanda, the Commissioner of Police in Kolkata, also arrived at the hospital.
