Yuzvendra Chahal Finally Speaks Out “it’s been three World Cups” on his Exclusion from World Cup 2023

Yuzvendra Chahal, the premier spinner for India, has had a roller-coaster year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chose Axar Patel ahead of the 33-year-old despite his excellent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season and 21 wickets. As a result, he was unable to get a spot in India’s ODI World Cup 2023 team.

Injury to Axar Patel opens a door, but Chahal is once again disregarded

Despite the fact that Axar was ultimately ruled out due to injury, the management chose experienced Ravichandran Ashwin to replace the all-rounder and once more passed over Chahal in the selection process. However, this is not the first time the cricketer from Haryana has been denied a chance to play in the World Cup. Despite being a member of the team, he was left out of the UAE’s 2021 T20 World Cup and was also benched without having any opportunity to play in the 2022 tournament.

Chahal recently spoke openly about his exclusion from Wisden. Expressing his understanding of the management’s choice but also expressing his disappointment. Chahal expressed his desire to play cricket in any format and even mentioned his desire to represent India in Test cricket.

“I understand that the squad can only consist of fifteen players because it’s a World Cup. And you can’t take 17 or 18 players. Even if I’m a little dejected, my life’s philosophy is to move on. I’ve been through three World Cups, so I’m accustomed to it now.” Chahal remarked. “I wanted to be on a cricket pitch somehow. So that’s why I came here [to Kent] to play. I’m getting a chance to play with the red ball here, and I’m anxious to play for India in Test cricket. It has thus been a worthwhile experience for me,” he continued.

Chahal recently played for Kent County Cricket Club in England’s County Championship. There he had a respectable performance and showed his flexibility as a player.
